DTI Systems, LLC announces the release of Point of Sale software, for General Retail and Grocery markets, using Thumb Pay, to bring to retailers the option to reduce credit card fraud and shorten customer check-out time.  The software uses OPOS standards and can run on open architecture register based PC’s using a POS keyboard and touch screen PC’s.  Thumb Pay can be used for payment in place of traditional credit/debit cards.

Here’s how Thumb Pay works:

Customers register their Thumbprint Templates along with their Credit Card information which is subsequently stored in a totally secure Biometrics Database Vault*. This allows the customer the freedom to access their credit card information anywhere in the world (via internet access) without the risk of having to carry and possibly lose their card. Access is secured via the use of Biometrics. Your thumbprint you do not forget; cannot be copied or lost to be found by others, so the security is excellent for customer peace of mind. This same security reduces fraud for the retailer.  Your thumbprint is stored as a series of numbers – no image of your thumbprint is ever kept.

At the checkout, the Customer presents their thumb, which is scanned and an algorithmic template is compared to their original registration stored in the Thumb Vault. As there are no images of the print made at any stage, Consumers can be assured that information cannot be reversed or used for any other purpose. Along with presenting their thumb, the Customer also enters their QAN^©  (Quick Access Number) as both provide a speedier method of matching and also a secondary level of security.

The speed of “paying by thumb” results in greater security for the Consumer and Merchant and less bottlenecks at the checkout – a true convenience in shopping.
